Description

This is a painting of the Wraith Commander Mistwalker. And the title of the painting is In the Forlorn hands of Death. The Wraith Race is a fictional vampyric Hivebased Partially Insectoid Predatory species in the Hitseries Stargate Atlantis and are Antagonists to the Atlanteans.

The human figures on the foreground are depicting nakedness and powerlessness. They are like small puppets into his hands controlled by invisible threats held by the Predator. Their fate is in his hands, literally. This explains the merging of styles.

They ( the tiny humans) wake with confusion and in mishap while the predator is undisturbed and tranquil, completely at ease with who and what he is. Unmoved by the world’s opinion and being kind of ethereal while its movement remains Selfdetermined.
This principle applies everywhere in the Universe. It is the way of Nature.

Also the Wraith would be as necessary to the world as a Predator is to its environment as everything in nature holds its righful place. I made this painting because there is appreciation for the predatory nature and there is much we can learn from it. It questions the doctrines we were conditioned by. And in how far our mindset and our bias is conditioned by the perceptions which is made by mankind, which plays by its own rules because there is not force that stands above them, kicking it back into the curb when gone out of line. The Predator does not view itself as an evil force. Yet in the eyes of a prey a predator most often is evil.
The Lion on the Savannah. The Shark in the Sea. What if human kind would not be on top of the foodchain? This world would be different. Human kind would spurt into action to constantly try to outstrip and supersede its hunter. Also the predator would find ways to catch its prey.
When life gets too easy, we get too lazy. In matter of fact, inertia in this sense would turn us into lowhanging fruit. To understand nature and power itself we must understand its dynamics and how the entropic blasts things out of its inert state and restore balance to situations that have gone out of control due to neglect. This is evolution, we have to overcome obstacles and hindrances to progress.

The painting would be for those who would (attempt to) understand the dynamic nature of the Predator. It would look lovely in homes with for instance a gothic or baroque, renaissance style.
